My latest knitting project is severely testing my patience. I’m knitting a sheep scarf which is worked in the double knitting technique.
I won’t go into the technical details of working the chart, but will tell you that I’m working both sides together and I have to try to remember which colours go where. This is supposed to be a Christmas gift for my nephew, but there is a long way to go and not much time...
I admire your strength and perseverance on this one, Marie! Having tried double knitting, I found very fiddly and not all that enjoyable, found it hard to keep my gauge for all the color shifting. :/ Good luck getting your scarf done! ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteIt is incredibly fiddly. I read that it is possible to work in English and Continental style knitting - one yarn in each hand - I couldn’t knit like this, nor with both yarns in Continental style, so I just keep getting tangled up!
DeleteCrumbs! That looks complicated. I've never attempted double sided patterns. I think my brain would explode 🙄 Well done so far, and good luck with the remainder. B xox
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bonny. My brain feels on the verge of exploding too! I’m struggling to make any real progress. Marie x
DeleteOh my goodness, that's amazing! I have done some stranded colour work but realised that I hold the yarn all wrong and so make it more difficult for myself, so I won't be trying it again. I couldn't even contemplate double-sided, well done. x
ReplyDeleteI do seem to get in a tangle, but it has improved since I went ‘off grid’ and changed to double-sided stocking stitch without the pattern. Maybe I’m just getting more used to it now. Marie x
