NaBloPoMo 2013

It's November already and time to think about blogging, or rather the lack of it this year.  My blogging is not as frequent as I would like and there are occasions when I just don't have the energy to sit down and write.

There have been times in the last two years when I have seriously thought about whether I should continue with a blog.  I seem to recall mentioning this at the same time last year.

So why do I blog?  It certainly isn't for the legions of followers (!)  As my blog posts have become less frequent, I'm sure that my followers have disappeared, but there are still a few loyal friends who read and comment on my posts.

My reasons for blogging are more personal.  It is a form of self-expression; one where for most of the time, I am not facing criticism for the way I've done things and it is a creative writing outlet.  In these days of social media and instant communication, it is still good to be able to write a journal, even if it is online.

The challenge this month is to post every day on a subject of my choice.  Now that can't be so difficult can it?  Watch this space....

  1. My heart goes out to you, Marie... your previous post was so heartfelt, and I hope very much tensions will ease and days take a brighter turn for you. I was wondering if you'd be doing NaBloPoMo this year. And glad you will be! :o) I'm online less these days myself, but I do enjoy blogging for the friendships I've made through the years and not least for the creative outlet it provides. In a lot of ways it amazes me the blogging format as it is is still around, given how different types of social media have taken over. Here's to blogs! :o) Happy Days ((HUGS))

  2. Hooray! I'm so glad that you're going to participate. It's not easy and I had forgotten about it until 10am this morning, but I'm going to give it a go as I have done every year (except 2011) since 2007 - it has become a bit of a ritual now, and I think I'd miss not doing it. I'm glad that you've come to the decision to continue blogging. I definitely ask myself 'what's the point if not many people read?' but going back through some of the posts, I am able to remember things I'd otherwise forgotten. Though it is in a public forum, I find that wanting to 'put something out there' is my impetus to continue blogging.

Anyway, I eagerly await your blog posts :) Have a lovely weekend.

    Best wishes,
