A Space of My Own

I thought that it would be fun to share a couple of photos of my workspace.  This is where I sat to type up my book manuscript (yes, I’m old-fashioned and wrote it in longhand initially).

I have my Susan Branch desk calendar to give me some inspiration and on which to make a note or two of things that I’ve forgotten.

I also have my pen pots and the latest addition - watercolour brushes.  The little light tree was a purchase a few years ago, which I consider to be a winter ornament.  It comes out once the nights draw in and adds a touch of cheer to those overcast days of late autumn and winter.

Autumn on the Boardwalk

A sunny morning allowed us an opportunity to go for a breath of fresh air and some exercise on the boardwalk.

I took the camera to capture the few remaining glimpses of colour after a week of stormy weather.

Although it was sunny for most of the time, many of the trees were in shade, so the best colours didn't look very impressive.

I love these last days of autumn, but the unsettled weather has resulted in far fewer walks than usual.

We tried to get out for another walk a couple of days later, only for the heavens to open and heavy rain set in for the rest of the day.  We made a dash for the car and returned home to dry out.

In Colour

With my new-found interest in watercolour painting, I’ve been busy creating a colour chart.  I saw these on Pinterest and read that they took a couple of hours to create.  I can vouch for the fact that it takes considerably longer than that - I’ve been working on it on and off for several weeks and spend two or three hours at a time mixing the colours and adding them to my chart.

It may take a few more sessions, but I’m getting there slowly, but surely.

Christmas Robin Sampler

I started this sampler in the spring, but put it aside to focus on my knitting and other projects.  I had hoped to finish it by Christmas, but that isn’t a realistic goal, as it is very detailed and takes a lot of stitching.

Anyway, I’m enjoying working on it when I have an hour or two to spare and it is coming along nicely.

Thought For The Day - Part I

Fall in the fresh lap of the crimson rose.’

Time Turner

I love autumn walks but I feel a little cheated this year because many of the leaves came down before the trees had a chance to put on their usual display of colour.

We have had very windy, wet conditions lately.  We did venture out one morning last week and revisited the Friendship Park, where we found a hint of colour amongst the fallen leaves.

The season is changing and the clocks go back tonight, so the darker evenings will be upon us.

Vintage Jacket - Take Two

I can hardly believe that I finished this knitting project in June, but forgot to post about it.  I found the draft in my blog list.

I was much happier with the end result of this jacket than that of the previous pattern and glad that I had been able to reuse the yarn.  I have yet to find a suitable ribbon for the tie at the neck, but at least the knitting is finished.
